Hopefully you have finally grown tired of pornography and are seeking out different alternatives to freedom. Before you choose your method of warfare please read 2 Chronicles 16 1-10 . This is a biblical account of Asa, King of Judah, a man who was aware of his utter helplessness without God’s assistance, but one ill-considered and unwise decision displeased God.
Judah was being harassed with hostile threats from it’s neighbour Israel and Asa sought to draw up a military alliance with Ben-Hadad King of Syria for extra support. As a result of the Syrians help, God was not pleased. Asa was a man who knew God’s saving power and experienced a peaceful and productive reign for 36 years, but for some unknown reason he decided to ignore God and form new alliances. God wanted to show Asa his displeasure towards his decision by sending the prophet Hanani to remind Asa of the time that God had defeated the mighty Ethiopian army for him 2 Chronicles 14. At times the obstacles in our own lives may seem so overwhelming that we can be easily tempted to plunder our own hard earned finances to buy us out of trouble instead of keeping our focus on the one who has promised to deliver us from evil 2 Tim 4 18.
The lesson that we can draw from this is that many of us are like Asa. We have trusted in the Lord for the biggest battle that we will ever face – the battle for our soul – then go on and enjoy many years of peace until something like pornography rears its ugly head and starts to harass us. Instead of turning straight away to God to fight for us, we wander off seeking to draw up alliances with programs, courses, self-help books, filters/blockers, software etc to do the fighting for us while God gets pushed into the back-ground. If these companies were really concerned about your freedom, they would be covering the cost instead of turning your misery into a lucrative business opportunity. God has already covered the cost through Jesus Christ. The threat of pornography should be uniting the church behind Jesus Christ instead of scattering us everywhere seeking alternative sources of freedom.
Pornography isn’t at war with a software company or with an author, it’s at war with God and it’s using you to get at Him. You are His chosen people and the apple of His eye. So that means that He alone wants to do the fighting for you. Asa had the right motive for fighting but chose the wrong method even with instruction from a prophet, he still wouldn’t listen to God. If your method is wrong God will correct the method through a humble heart. God is taking pornography seriously and He will not let it make Him look stupid, weak or powerless in front of his children.
If you decide to turn to another source that is putting out a message to everybody that God isn’t able to get you through what you need to get through in this battle. When in fact He has equipped you with every resource that you need to overcome your enemy. Sacrifice, time, concentration, effort, reliance, determination, willpower, fasting, prayer, commitment, energy, daily devotions, humility, vulnerability, brokenness, repentance. These are all qualities that each of you possess, so you don’t need to be wasting your time and your money in other places to find freedom from pornography. God has equipped you with everything that you need to succeed – so get fighting.

2 Chronicles 16 9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars
