Over half of evangelical Pastors admitted viewing porn last year and 30% of these had visited pornographic sites within the last 30 days. 51% of pastors say pornography is a possible temptation, 37% tell us that it is a current struggle. So if that’s true 4 out of 10 pastors looked at porn today, 75% of pastors do not make themselves accountable to anyone for their Internet use, 37% of the pastors surveyed confessed to having been involved in inappropriate sexual behaviour with someone in the church. 48% of lay leaders and 23% of Pastors in church have admitted to being unfaithful to their spouses during their marriage.
In his book, “Men’s Secret Wars”, Patrick Means reveals a confidential survey of evangelical pastors and church lay leaders. 64% of these Christian leaders confirm that they are struggling with sexual addiction or sexual compulsion including, but not limited to use of pornography, compulsive masturbation, or other secret sexual activity.
It seems that some Pastors are spending more time hanging around the altar of sexual idolatry than at the feet of Jesus.
That’s what the shepherds are getting up to, now what’s the rest of the flock doing?
Well it varies, anywhere between 50 – 90% + are struggling with porn. 38% of Christian men think that it’s acceptable to view porn. 96% of Christian males under the age of 20 and 61% of Christian married men masturbate regularly. 25% of married Christian men have had an affair since becoming a Christian, and another 15% have had inappropriate physical contact with women other than their wives. 20- 30% of women in the church could also be struggling with pornography as well, probably being introduced by a husband/ boyfriend/abuser or through a chat room. Interesting that women make up about 70% of visits to sexuality explicit chat rooms and 50% to cybersex-sites.
Let me leave you with this final thought “Why do these believers want to go to heaven when they seem to be happy and comfortable hanging out with Pornography, adultery, immorality etc”? whatever final destination you choose pornography won’t be there to welcome you.
